Friends of the Horowhenua Libraries

The Friends Eagar customers at the FOHL booksaleof Horowhenua Libraries are an invaluable group of library supporters who provide practical support for the libraries. Many of them work alongside us in our libraries and many more work quietly in the background. Much of the Friends effort goes into raising additional funds for the libraries which enable us to provide far broader services than we would otherwise be able.

During the last twelve months the Friends have organised several booksales, a drama night, quiz nights, a cooking demonstration, a bridge tournament, helped with the library Christmas Parade entry, organised the Christmas tree and collection of gifts for needy children in Levin library and held a garden party.

The FOHL also hold occasional social functions for their members so that they can get to know each other in informal settings. So if you are new in town or have some time to spare why not join our Friends. New members are always welcome.  Just email your details to our President and indicate that you would like to become a member.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Horowhenua Libraries is held in March each year.

The 2011 meeting was held on Thursday 24th March at 10.15 a.m. in Levin Library.
All members and intending members were invited to attend.

At the 2011 meeting, the following officers were elected

We now have over 60 Friends of the Horowhenua Libraries, and volunteers who work in each of the branch libraries in Foxton, Shannon and Tokomaru.

Membership

There are four levels of membership in the Friends of the Horowhenua Libraries. The subscription of set at differing levels so that anyone can join to show support. All members receive regular newsletter updates.

Fern Membership

  • $2.00 per year

 Kowhai Membership

  • $10.00 per year

 Pohutukawa Membership

  • $25.00 per year

 Mighty Kauri Membership

  • 50.00 per year.

Serving Members

Service to the libraries in any capacity: book shelving, mending, committee, book sales, homebound deliveries, etc entitles one to be a Serving Member.

Supporting Members

For those people who would like to be associated with us but are unable to spend the time, we have the category of Supporting Members who may make voluntary donations towards the work of the Friends. This helps to support the work we do for the libraries and entitles members to receive the Friends' Newsletter.
