Tracing Your Irish Family History

Some 70 million people around the world claim Irish ancestry.

The tracing of one's ancestry is a fascinating journey and many people make use of the resources from the genealogy section of our library.  A welcome addition to this section comes in Tracing your Irish family history by Anthony Adolph.  The tide of Irish people who escaped the famines and economic gloom of the 19th Century has at last ebbed and many offspring are now returning home to a more prosperous modern Ireland.  Some to holiday and research their roots and others to stay.  For those who can not make the trip back or who want to do some research prior to going this book provides a useful manual.  Adolph begins with the search for that original immigrant.  Some chapters are specific to countries including Britain, USA, Australia and New Zealand.  The main part of the book is then devoted to tracing your roots in Ireland with many weblinks to enable a search of the many records now available on-line.  A rich and beautifully presented resource.
