Mixed-Media Mosaics
A book from the creative arts shelf is Mixed-media Mosaics by Laurie Mika.
She tells how creating buttons for her hand-painted clothing lead on to her developing techniques using
polymer clay and ultimately combining other elements to create her pieces.
I call them pieces as some of the forms are useful containers or table tops and others are wall-hangings.
She shows how to create the most beautiful tiles using stamps, gold leaf and beading.
Each is a work of art and takes the creation of mosaics to a very different place.
