The watercourse trilogy by Philip Athans
It would be a travesty of justice and accuracy to describe Mr. Athans as an author.
TITLES: Whispers of waves
Lies of light
Scream of stones
It would be a travesty of justice and accuracy to describe Mr. Athans as an
author. He is a soi - disant "collectivist", whatever that may be, an admirer of
Ayn Rand, whose philosophies are way to the right of Gengis Khan and describes his
mother as an "Objectivist of the first order", whatever that may mean. This may
explain why he cannot truthfully be described as an author. He cannot write.
His characterisations are facile; he writes too many words, perhaps to conceal the
fact that his plotting is patchy and he has misjudged the punchy short chapters of
authors like James Patterson and Matthew Riley. They can control their work, he
can't. Short chapters well written are compelling reading. Short chapters badly
written are an irritation - in this case, one of many. As far as the publishers
are concerned, proof reading and editing are things of the past - maybe it's
because they normally publish "Dungeons and Dragons" type material that this is
so. Who knows, who cares.
Badly written garbage. Weep for the trees that were cut down to produce this
trilogy of tripe.
